Providing safe, healthy and secure environments for our children is everyone’s job.
The Oakland Diocese requires retraining every three years for all volunteers and employees according to the Diocesan Safe Environment Training Cycles. St. John’s is in cycle 1, which means that this year ALL volunteers and employees in the school and the parish must retrain. This is for anyone who volunteers, not just those who work with children, and this requirement is for everyone, even if you trained within the last three years.
If you have trained through Shield the Vulnerable and taken the Basic course, you may take any adult course listed to satisfy the compliance requirement. If this is your first training, please take the course Protect Children parts 1 and 2. Go to www.shieldthevulnerable.org. When you have completed your course, print the certificate and return it to the parish office along with the $8 fee. If you have forgotten your log-in or password, please contact the Safe Environment office at 267-8315 for assistance.
